THE BEETLE STAGE!!!

This week we had a couple of beetles born, a couple more perish, and the other mealworms are starting to get chubby and head into the pupa stage. See pictures below!

Mealworm...you need to eat!!!

This mealworm is getting chunky!!

Ahhh...beetle!!!

In the pupa stage they form into the adult beetle!!

The beetle still likes the apple.

Come on mealworm...eat, eat, eat, so you can transform!!

The mealworms will be coming home shortly for the students to take care of or they can be let go into nature.  We have really enjoyed our study of the life cycle of a beetle!

To Go To Six Flags for FREE or not...that is the question??

Each student should have brought home a yellow sheet with information about the reading program sponsored by Six Flags.  At first glance, 6 hours of reading might seem like a lot, but when spread out over a month, it is easily manageable.  The important thing is to be sure to time your child's reading for fun and remember to log it in on the recording sheet.  Each student who brings their sheet to school by February 23 with at least 360 minutes recorded on their sheet will receive a free ticket to Six Flags.  Baggie Book reading doesn't count, but students can read their library books, magazines, comic books, anything appropriate for their reading level in print.

Make use of this great opportunity and get to Reading!
