Sharkarosa Field Trip

We had a great time at Sharkarosa! Thank you parents for your help in corraling students. Your helped all of us have a great trip!

First, we went on a safari ride to see the animals at Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch. Some animals we saw included zebras, Emu, zonkey (half zebra/ half donkey), camels, horses, deer, and bears.

We also had a Kangaroo and Lemur talk where we learned facts about each animal.

Then, we were able to pet a lemur on the tail and a wallabee anywhere except the face. We had to be really quiet so we wouldn't spook them!

After that, we had lunch in the courtyard with everyone.

While we waited to ride the barrel ride, we broke up into groups and were allowed to revisit animals we had already seen or see new animals like McCaw birds, a sloth, and a deer that was in a car accident.

Too end our trip, we went on a barrel ride which was a lot like a roller coaster or a ride at a carnival. It was awesome!!!

See some pictures of our fun below.

Final Mealworm Update

Good News!

Over Spring Break we had a lot of beetles born..8 total now to be exact!!

2 are still in the pupa stage and 5 are still in the mealworm stage.

Be looking for your students mealworm journal in Thursday folders to learn more.

I released the beetles into the wild after school today. :)

Open House: Rainforest Animal Recording

Thank you everyone for coming to Open House! What a great turnout we had! Sorry, if I didn't get to talk to you. :)

The last several weeks we have been learning about the 3 types of forests (Rainforest, Deciduous (Texas trees), Coniferous (Evergreen trees) and the animals that live in them. Each student was assigned an animal that they chose from a list. The students gathered research information from online chosen websites and library books all by themselves. You saw some of this at Open House. The finished products will be coming home soon.

Below is the link for the Voice Thread that I had playing in the background at Open House that was hard to hear. :)

I am so proud!

Your students did a great job recording this with Mrs. Sonkin when I was out.

Enjoy!

80's Dress Up Day!

Mealworm Update!

This picture is from two weeks ago. We had one pupa, 1 death, 1 about to turn into pupa and the rest of the mealworms are getting bigger.

Last week we checked on our mealworms again. This time we had 2 in the pupa stage and 2 more about to turn into a pupa. The rest were growing!!! No deaths!

We are anxiously waiting for our beetles to form in the pupa and be born.

Science Stan and the Rainforest!!

We had a great time with Science Stan and Scientist Patricia!

We learned more about the Rainforest! We learned that the plants in the Rainforest can act as medicine and help heal wounds. We even made a model of the Rainforest.

See some of the fun we had below!!
