Career Week

We had 3 special visitors for College/Career Week! They each encouraged us to do our best in school and to go to college. We learned about how what we are learning right now in school is and will be important for our future job. Each speaker mentioned that TEAM WORK was a huge part of their job.

My future graduates...and yours!

Ian's dad came and talked to us about Graphic Design. He works for JCPenny and designs toddler clothing. He brought us some designs that he has created and then showed us some finished products of what the clothing looks like.

Emily's mom came and talked to us about being a nurse and about some equipment that nurses use regularly. We got to learn what a defibrilator is, why we would need to use this, where to find one, and how to use it. We were able to touch and feel the pieces of equipment below without the needles.

The sticky pads you put on a person's body to give their heart a shock!

The objects nurses use to draw blood from a person.
The different color tubes represent different tests to be done.

Chase had a great question...what is the gel at the bottom of the tube for?
It separates the white blood cells from the plasma.

Looking at an IV straw without the needle.

Hayden's dad came and talked to us about being a Computer Software Engineer.

In the quick video below, Hayden's dad is pretending to be the computer and the class is his program giving him directions of how to make a peanut butter sandwich.

He emphasized that a computer requires specific directions so that it will do what we want it to do. Hayden's dad writes these programs.

Yes...we have a complete sandwich ready to eat!

This week we learned that our future is looking very bright! So bright with opportunities that we had to wear sunglasses to shield our eyes from all the light.

Parents,

THANK YOU for coming!

The students love learning about what you do and this class loves special guests.

Let me know if you would like to come give a quick talk to the class about your job.

You can come anytime you like....not just during career week.

Several of your kids said that they wanted their parents to come talk.

Its not too late! Email me.
